Will Windows 7 for Sony Vaio install correctly on my Dell Studio?

I have the two disks needed to install Windows 7 but they’re for the Sony Vaio. Will they install correctly on my Dell Studio? If not, what problems will there be and how should I go about it etc…

  1. No, it will not work.

Sony OEM disks (Original Equipment Manufacturer) will not load into a Dell system, and vice versa!!

You would need to have the appropriate Dell OEM disks.

ARE THEY UPGRADEC DISC.S OR A STAIGHT INSTALL IF A STRAIGHT INSTALL THERE.S NO PROBLEM JUST FIRE AWAY BUT THAT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING OFF OR UPGRADE YOU WILL HAVE TO REActivate

  3. Theres no problem in this question. I your dell studio was working with vista earlier then no problem in installing, but if working on any other OS then download the windows 7 compatibility doctor or something named application form microsoft.com. It will automatically analyse your system and tell you which drivers to install with their download location.

it is unlikely they will install, most of these OEM recovery disks are designed to work only on the model or at least the brand name of the machine they came with.
This data is verified through the data in the BIOS, the disc checks for and verifies data in the BIOS and if it does not find it (because in your case it is a Dell machine not a Sony) it will give an error message something like "the Recovery disc is only authorised for use on a Sony Computer". It will not allow you to continue any further.
Even if you can get it to install you may find the Micro$oft Genuine Advantage Tool actually works very efficiently on Windows 7 and it will work out that the licence is already in use and will not allow you to activate it. No activation means you will have to reload every three days!
