The Sony Vaio S Series laptop is the tough guy of the computing world – think of Clint Eastwood amongst a load of British coppers and you’ll have some idea of why this laptop stands out from the rest.
This laptop works hard, plays hard and was just born to travel. Weighing in at less than 2 kilos this laptop can easily be transported from home to the office and from room to room with just one hand. What’s more, if you do happen to drop it then the ingenious advanced HDD protection automatically kicks in to minimise any damage to your precious hard drive, thereby keeping your work safe.
Although it’s lightweight the strong magnesium alloy body ensures that this tough guy is able to withstand the usual knocks and shocks you get when travelling on the tube, bus or jostling with a crowd – it’s the ideal travelling companion!
Ok, so we know it’s tough, but what can it do? Well with a wide high contrast screen it brings your movies and presentations to life and like all good tough guys, its screen is resistant to the odd scratch and mark so you needn’t be paranoid about greasy little fingers marking the screen.
You have a choice of powerful Intel processors and can even choose 3D performance on certain models. A new feature of an ASSIST button helps to keep your pc working at maximum efficiency and an ambient light sensor means you can work in any light, day or night without straining your eyes.
But not content with being the tough guy the Sony Vaio S Series also has a soft side, around 85% of its parts are made from recycled materials, the LED is mercury-free and it also has a Battery Care function to save power. In fact it has been awarded a Gold award for its environmental credentials.
And of course as with the other Sony Vaio series, you can also customise it to meet your own personal needs, so if you need a bigger memory or want to add a Blu-ray Disc™ drive, just go ahead and add it. You can also choose from a choice of colours and finishes to get a laptop that is perfectly designed for you.

how much in philippine prices
how big is the screeen
Hi Lauren
It’s 13.3 inches or 33.8 cm with a 1366×768 resolution screen.
A standard laptop generally has a 14 inch screen so this is a little more compact.
Hi, would this be an ideal laptop for someone who uses Fruity Loops alongside other music production software. Thanks
Hi Sarah
I don’t see any reason why not although you might want to hook up to some external speakers for optimum performance.
I had a quick scan through the FL Manual and couldn’t see any minimum requirements – I’ll have a proper look through later and post back within 24 hours.
Update:
OK, the system requirements for FL Studio System are:
(or) Intel Mac with Bootcamp (running XP or Vista)
http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/systemrequirements.html
These requirements are not that demanding for a modern laptop or desktop and the VAIO S Series easily exceeds these with ample disc space and RAM memory. The base model uses Intel’s Core i3-370M Processor (3M cache, 2.40 GHz) – you can see the technical details here
For optimum visual performance you might want to consider upgrading to the NVIDIA GeForce 310M graphics card (an option costing £90) but this isn’t really essential.
