Problems with Acer PC…?

I have windows 7 beta, so the copy is not genuine, but I’ve never been able to reset the computer back to windows vista and today all of a sudden a message has appeared whenever I boot the computer saying " Use the system restore feature from the control panel to restore the system prior to new package installation." But then it shuts down.. So I can’t get to the log in page never mind the control panel and even then it won’t let me restart it to an earliar date. Please can anyone tell me how I can get it going again my computer model is the Acer Aspire L3600
Thanks

  1. HI.

I do not know what method you used to get vista back on your computer.
Or if your original partitions are still in tack.

    Must be worth a shot.
    Turn computer on.
Hold Alt and keep pressing F10 when the Acer logo is on screen.
If the above fails to bring up any recovery files from PQservice partition then re-start and press F2 when the logo is on screen goto "Main" and enable D2D recovery.

If this should work you will need a password if erecovery has been ran before you would have been asked to create a password.

If erecovery has never been ran before the default password is "000000" (six zeros).

Select factory from top of list if you have no recovery disc’s that were "made with" erecovery management.

I suspect this may not work but is worth a go.

  2. hello if you have a copy of vista to install u will need too wipe the hard drive too install it wont let u go back to a previous op system but u can after u wipe the drive u can use dban to wipe the drive good luck!!

  3. Buy a genuine copy of Windows xxxx. Bill Gates is wise to pirating and he makes sure it can’t be done without a penalty of some kind.

    hi dan
when i purchased a acer aspire x3200 for my wife i can remember it came with a recovery disk … this has windows vista on it and should be used to reinstall windows vista on your pc
and since your acer aspire l3600 was bought new it will have a genuine product key for vista on the side of the case…. so your only option dan is to reinstall windows vista ,and not by upgrade,,this wouldnt work due to windows 7 being installed
you need to insert the vista disk in your optical drive and restart the pc… make sure your bios is set to boot from cd/dvd and when you see the prompt to "press any key to boot from cd/dvd" press a key to initialize the windows vista installation process
using this method you can delete the existing partitions and then install a completely fresh copy of windows vista…. and while this is installing and if possible use another pc or laptop and download the latest drivers for your aspire L3600 from http://www.acer.co.uk/acer/service.do;jsessionid=1E297CDC1AFFB602AEFB3BC6B6F325D2.public_a_14c?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&miu10einu24.current.attN2B2F2EEF=3734&sp=page15e&ctx2.c2att1=17&miu10ekcond13.attN2B2F2EEF=3734&CountryISOCtxParam=UK&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=3713735360
ok there probally is a way you can by-pass the genuine advantage prompts and restraints, but your system may still play up at a later date..trust me …
the system restore feature in the control panel may be corrupted and thats why you cant initialize it… however some acer pc,s use a partiton based recovery instead of a recovery disk… check the post screen and see if theres any prompts to begin recovery ( you will find this on the same screen as the set-up(bios) prompt …
i hope this helps dan… any problems let me know
    good luck dan !
