HP Pavilion G6 Luminous Rose Laptop

The HP Pavilion G6 is a standard format 15.” laptop with 4GB of RAM with a high definition LED screen with a choice of either an AMD or Intel processor and an ATi Graphics processor which makes it ideal for watching movies and playing games.

HP Pavilion g6-1010sa 15.6″ Laptop – Luminous Rose

The gs-1010sa is a good all-rounder with ample storage, high powered processor and enough RAM to run just about anything you can throw at it.  This would make an ideal home computer for someone who needs high performance for work but who also likes to watch DVD’s on their laptop. For a casual gamer the spec is more than adequate although a serious gamer may be better looking elsewhere?

You get all the usual connections for all your external devices as well as an optical DVD drive/re-writer. And the colour, a very strong dark rose, will certainly stand-out from the rest. There is no figure given for battery life but it is a 6-cell Lithium-Ion so expect at least 4 hours between charges for normal use – maybe a bit less for gaming and watching films.

HP Pavilion g6-1072sa 15.6″ Laptop – Luminous Rose

The gs-1072sa is basically the same laptop but with a slightly diferent spec. You get an Intel Core i3 processor which is a bit more powerful than the AMD. However, you only get an integrated Intel Graphics card with this model and less storage space with a 320GB drive rather than 500GB that you get with the 1010.

  • Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-380M Processor – 2.53 GHz
  • RAM: 4GB DDR3
  • Hard Drive: 320GB SATA 5400rpm
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics (integrated)

Which to go for?

Both machines are pretty good value and there isn’t really much between them. The more expensive 1072sa does have the better Intel processor but has less storage and doesn’t have an ATI graphics card. That said, unless you play a lot of games it’s unlikely the graphics performance will be that noticeable and 320GB is still more than enough storage for most people.

For the processor alone it’s probably worth paying that bit more for but it’s a close call really – both options are really good so it will probably be a matter of budget for most?

New for Christmas - HP Pavilion G6 1234sa and G6 1298sa 15.6″ Pink Laptops

HP have updated the G6 with two new versions of this 15.6″ laptop. There are slight improvements for both models but nothing spectacular.

Pink 15 inch laptop from HP

The lower priced G6 1234sa has an AMD Dual-Core E2-3000M processor, 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive as well as an AMD Radeon HD 6380G Graphics card with Dual GPU.

The more expensive Pavilion G6 1298sa has an Intel Core i3-370M processor, 4GB of RAM and a 3200GB Hard Drive. Both models have a 6 cell battery with a claimed capcity of up to 5 hours continuous use between charges.

Again, both versions are reasonable value and offer a good spec for the price. The more expensive 1298sa has a better processor so opt for this model if your budget will stretch.
