No sound from my Dell computer?

I recently bought a Dell Alienware Aurora R4 computer and a Dell W2306C monitor. I have them connected with a DVI cable and I can’t get any sound out of it. I tried using one of the jacks that plug into the green port on my pc but still nothing happens. Also, it isnt muted because when I hover over the sound icon, it says ‘No speakers or headphones are plugged in.’ and when I click on it, it just runs a troubleshooter. It also doesn’t work if I directly plug headphones into the computer. Please help.
I am using Windows 8 if that helps.

    Do you have sound drivers?

Is audio output enabled in the bios?

    Hi Joe,

My name is Harish and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. You can check the following steps to resolve the issue.

    Step 1
Ensure the drivers are installed correctly (verify the same by checking the same in device manager). The system has the option of on-board sound card (Realtek ALC892) & Discrete sound card (Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Titanium / Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Xtreme Audio) . If not installed, update the same from the dell support website.

    Step 2
