Laptop upgrading abilities differ wildly among the different makes and models. It depends on which motherboard is in the laptop…which is only told by knowing what model a serial number the laptop is. You can also use this program to figure out which motherboard is in your laptop:

Edit your question once you get this info then you’ll know if you can upgrade it.

You cannot change processors in laptops – they are soldered in to the logic board. Even if you could, the chips needed to support the processors data path would be different.

I have a few that I would recommend and they have great price tags:
    ASUS UL20FT-A1 12.1-Inch Laptop (Silver)
    *Intel Core i3-330UM Processor
    *2GB of DDR3 1066MHz RAM (2x1GB, 2 slots)
*320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM); No optical drive
*12.1" HD LED Display, Intel GMA HD Graphics; 802.11 b/g/n wireless
*Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System (64 bit); up to 6 hours of battery life

  3. Upgrade to an Intel i7 extreme edition for 1000$. Since you said money is not a problem.

    DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Normally what is installed it it period. There are very few laptops that can be upgraded. Only those that specifically state they can be upgraded.
