Laptop or Notebook – whats best?

Forgive my stupid question but what is the main difference between the two?

Notebooks and Laptops are portable computers but there is a minor difference between laptops and notebooks.

Laptop: A portable computer small enough to use on one’s lap.

Notebook: A light, portable computer that is generally thinner than a laptop.

Laptop computers are more frequently called notebook computers, though technically laptops are somewhat smaller in size than notebooks.

  2. Laptops are larger, typically 15.4" screen whereas notebooks have anywhere from an 8.9" to 10.4" screen and most do not come with a Cd rom drive

  3. There is no best! A laptop is mostly a smaller type PC whereas a notebook would perhaps be best called a small laptop or a slightly large calculator. It depends on what you want to do with them, how much aggravation you can stand and, to some extent, how big your fingertips are.

  4. None basically, it’s the same thing except the notebook is smaller and lighter and not as powerful as a laptop.

They are 2 different names for the same thing, like grey and gray.

Its all a preference, but notebook is the newer word, while laptop was derived from desktop (because its a desktop on your lap).

There are newer notebooks called netbooks, these are simplified notebooks only meant for internet.

  6. Stranger says:

There both the same thing. do you mean netbook if you do there not bad i am looky to have both.

  7. i don’t think there is a difference… it’s just two different names for the same thing ;)

  8. mojocarlton says:

    same thing.

  9. oops_ur_dead says:

    The name.

  10. Notebooks tend to be a little smaller and have fewer features. Really though the term could be applied to either as they both can sit on a lap.
