Dell XPS M1530 Screen?

Hi,

My Dell XPS M1530 suffered a bad accident which has caused it to have a cracked screen, now I need to know, the cable on the back of the display panel which connects it to the computer, does the cable completly detach from the old screen so I can use the same cable for the new screen I am getting without buying a new cable for the new screen?

I am not prepared to disconnect everything from the comp, like the keyboard.

Also I live in the UK in St Helens, does anyone know of any good but cheap websites which sell these screens?

  1. OricTosh says:

If this is a laptop? Which I believe it is. The screen is part of the laptop and replacing a cracked screen would/could be more than the price paid for the laptop. If the laptop is under warranty call them and ask them if they can help.
You could be better buying a new laptop and getting an engineer to transfer the hard drive from the old unit to the new unit

  2. Nope. There is no way to replace the screen without taking it apart. You will just have to suck it up and try or send it in to get repaired. You can get it done for free if you ordered the accidental care warranty (Which is called Complete Care). Dell provides service guides for most if all their machines so you can do it yourself if you wanted to:

You can try Ebay (Search "XPS M1530 lcd") for a screen or buy spare parts direct from Dell (if they have any refurbished ones in stock). You can easily find one for under $100. It shouldn’t cost any more than that if you replace the screen yourself.

HOWEVER, IF YOU BUY FROM EBAY DO BE CAREFUL! THERE HAVE BEEN "DEFECTIVE" LCD SCREENS SHIPPED FOR THE XPS M1530 IN THE PAST THAT HAVE A "GRAINY" DISPLAY. GENERALLY, DON’T AIM FOR THE ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST DEALS. THIS PROBLEM MAINLY AFFECTS THE Samsung WSXGA+ (1680×1050) Display.
