Dell? Ordering over the phone….?

I have tried to call Dell several times over the last two weeks to first ask advice and then to place an order, the t.v. commercial makes it look so easy…. nice lady at the end of the phone asking what you use your computer for then puts together a package to meet the chap’s requirements. So how come none of then understand me? Not only that i have had real difficulty understanding them. I have still not orderd my computer. Has anyone else experienced similar?

I’m telling you from first hand experience that dell are the best customer service in the country. Just tell them what you need the computer for and they will tell you what the best option for you is. If you ever have a problem with you’re computer they always fix it for free. Do not buy a computer from a computer shop especially PC world. Trust me i know.

Yeah this is typical of the marketing department not doing their research. You could send this example to michael_dell@dell.com. Who knows you might get a free computer out of it for finding a company blunder.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR IN THE UK. AM I RIGHT? I ORDERED MINE IN US, MISSISSIPPI LAST OCTOBER ON A FRIDAY AND RECEIVED IT THE VERY NEXT TUESDAY. VERY IMPRESSIVE TO ME . I LOVE IT AND IT’S EVERYTHING I WANTED. THERE WAS ONE PROBLEM THAT I DO NEED TO MENTION. WHEN, STEPHANIE, THE WOMAN I ORDERED WITH, SUMMED UP THE TRANSACTION SHE SAID " YOU UNDERSTAND THE FREE 3 MONTH TRIALS ON MACAFEE AND NETZERO, AOL?" I SAID YES NO PROBLEM ONLY TO LEARN UPON ARRIVAL THAT THE 3 MONTH TRIALS INCLUDED THE MICROSOFT WORKS AS WELL AND WHEN I LOGGED ON 20 MINUTES AFTER ARRIVAL I LEARNED THAT MICROSOFT WANTED AN ADDITIONAL $50 DOLLARS. NEEDLESS TO SAY I REFUSED AND AM NOW USING MICROSOFT 2000 WHICH IS STILL ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT I NEED. AS TO YOUR PROBLEM I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU INSIST ON SPEAKING TO SOMEONE THAT SPEAKS ENGLISH EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO INSIST ON TALKING TO THE SUPERVISOR. REMEMBER YOU CAN ALWAYS EMAIL THEM AND TELL THEM OF YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION AND THEY’LL RESPOND IMMEDIATELY AND ACCORDINGLY.

    GOD BLESS

  4. I’ve ordered 3 Dells….but I ordered them on-line. It was really easy…..Try it!

    go to there website
pick out the computer you want
print out the page then call and tell them you want
model # such n such with
    x.x ghz
    xx gb
    xxxx mb
    dvd-rw
when they try to sell you something more than that just say
"I know what I want and it’s (repeat your specs)"

    Yes.
Many call center jobs have gone to overseas countries.
Unfortunately, at times the English language skills are lacking.

You can always opt for ordering on line from Dell :

you can’t understand them because Dell is big into outsourcing. Chances are you were speaking to a hindu in India who can’t speak english that well.
I ordered a Dell over the phone and had hard times with the sandman. However I requested to speak to an American in a location in America. The next time I called I got lucky got connected to an American office.

I went to their factory outlet on-line, and got more than I needed for $1000 less than retail, and didn’t bother with the salesman!

  12. Dell USED to be rated #1 in customer service. Unfortunatley, that is no longer the case. If you want a custom built computer from Dell call them. If you are having problems with the sales rep that you are talking to ask to speak to his/her supervisor. This person usually is more knowledgeable and should be able to explain things to you until you understand.
If you just need a computer for regular gaming, word, and internet access go to your local discount store. The sales people are usually pretty knowledgeable and you will save yourself some money.
