Are the ACER computers any good?

My grandfather is looking to buy a computer and wants the best bang for his buck while still getting a quality computer. I just want to know if it is worth it to go with the cheaper acer or should i tell him to just go with a bigger name computer.

And just a side note….he doesn’t want to do anything major with it, mostly just internet stuff.

  1. I’m Happy with mine Acer X3200 £400

  2. I have an ACER laptop and it,s very good, for what your grandfather needs this is a top class make and price. For a Sony that will do the same pay an extra 200/ bucks just for the name Sony.

Grandfather. Well Acer has a good line of Quality comptuers that are cheap.

You could also go with a Dell or Even a gateway.

If you want bang for Buck. Get a Gateway or Acer.

Yes I have one and as for the grandfather comment, ignore that.

I record music, make videos, design websites and much more with my laptop. Computers today are more power full than in the past and back then I was doing the same things on a pentium 3, 866 processor pc which I still have….

Just make sure you have a good size hard drive and virus protect it. ;)

  5. Haven’t owned one – have repaired a few. Was Gateway and popular.

I think Acer is good bang for the buck and will be supported by Acer.

Has he considered a laptop? My 89 year old aunt purchased her first computer with highspeed, wireless, internet and loves the games, surfing and eMails! A laptop takes little space, always looks good and with a wireless router can be used in most any room easily.

I am a tech person, and this is aside from your question, I have to say their gaming computers are well priced for features, such as blu-ray an a 9800 series Nvidia card.

So back to your question, I would get a Asus 6350, my 54 year old mother owns one and she is not a techy like me, yet I picked it out for because it has a AMD Athlon X2 64 Processor running at 2.0 GHz, which is pretty good, also it has a ATI Radeon 2600 HD, now your asking yourself why your grandfather needs a video card, well it does play movies well, and without it just on a 2.0 GHz processor Vista would really be slow and just chug making it unbearable. It also has 3 GB of RAM. Overall me and my mom are impressed, and I am impressed because I built my own computer, and can really say I picked out a great workhorse machine for my mother.

So I would suggest getting a Asus 6350 with a ATI Radeon 3200 HD in it for around $500 to $600. Though the batteries are known to be not a long lasting and tech support is not that great, so you should try and see what kinds of extended service plans the retailer will give you, just to give your grandfather some peace of mind.

    Have a nice day

  7. I don’t think your grandfather is going to do gaming on that computer so and medium quality computer would be good but he would probably put pictures and movies so i would go with an HP.

  8. I’m currently on a ACER laptop, and its spot on for everything i needed it for. It was a bit pricey (£390) but worth it.Came with lots of free stuff and hasnt died yet (Touch wood!)

  9. acers not bad i have both a laptop and desktop.. the desktops and laptops are fine and are pretty good bang for the buck.. i modded my acer into gaming rig.. :D

  10. most techy people dont have anything great to say about acers. i wouldnt buy a comupter brand found in walmart. spend a little more on something decent

An Acer would be just fine for your grandfather, if he’s not doing
    anything major with it.

Acer computers are fine and has an Empowering Technology Support such as Drivers and utility update.
Acer ranks among the world’s top five branded PC vendors.
