Acer Aspire one – Pink

The Acer Aspire One has been one of the best selling netbook computers of 2008 and this new pink version is selling out fast.

Acer Aspire One Pink NetbookIdeal for girls of all ages the Aspire One combines everything you could want in a light and portable computer together with a look and style that puts many similar machine in the shade.

Available with many upgrade functions the basic Acer comes loaded with a choice of either the Linux or Windows XP operating software in addition to various memory and storage options.

Linux or Windows

The most important factor to consider when choosing between the various options is whether to opt for either the Linux or Windows operating systems?

Linux is an open source platform which basically means that it is free to use whereas Windows isn’t. Because of this a Linux machine will be considerably cheaper than one with Windows. While most people are familiar with Windows to many Linux is a bit of a mystery. Fortunately, with the Acer, the Linux system has been adapted to be more user friendly and anyone who is reasonably computer literate shouldn’t take long to get used to the system.

Memory

Another option available is the amount of useable memory or RAM. The Aspire One has a range of memory options and the larger the memory capacity than the greater the cost. Ideally you should opt for as much memory as you can afford, although basic users and particular teenagers and children should find the basic memory allowance more than sufficient. At the moment the Pink Aspire One just has one memory option of 1Gb which should be sufficient for most applications.

Storage

The amount of storage, or disc space, will determine how many programs and files you can load onto the machine. Again, the basic options should suffice for most, although if want to store your entire music collection and hundreds of photos then the larger the disc space the better. The Pink Aspire One has the option of either 16Gb or 160Gb disc space.

You can always expand this memory if you require by using an SD memory card or USB memory stick.
